I’m so pleased to share with you the results of my bedroom makeover! Connor and I have been in our condo for almost two years and I had never really been happy with our bedroom. I love all the space that we have, but I missed my cozy navy bedroom in my old coach house. When I talked about the plans for the bedroom in my post, Spicing It Up in the Bedroom - Combining Design Styles by Mixing Pattern, I featured Relativity Textiles wallpaper pattern, Gaar Parchment, as the inspiration. I coined the style I was going for as “Graphic meets Granny,” but I think the original inspiration for the room was from the Line Hotel in DC and many of the other images I sourced when putting together the post, Tips for Getting the Boutique Hotel Inspired Bedroom of Your Travel Dreams.

It wasn’t until I teamed up with Erin from Relativity that I really felt inspired by a color scheme and a direction to move forward with. If your room is functional, I do believe you should wait for that inspiring anchor piece that will drive the direction of the design. And here she is, in all her symmetrical glory!! Ok, we don’t have matching nightstands, but a last minute paint job on that right one is just what the room needed. If only it had been completely dry before the photoshoot! Oh well, it’s Connor’s side so I don’t have to look closely at it now.

The wallpaper is such a beautiful, rich color and texture. It really gives the bedroom the coziness it needs. I understand some people’s need for a spacious, calming bedroom, but to me it makes me feel like i’m 5 years old again and all that openness means more room for things to hide and get you in the night.

The bedding was a later splurge and I’m so happy with it. The coverlet is a rich gray brown washed velvet from Pom Pom at Home and that beautiful throw was a Christmas gift from my Mother-in-Love from the CItizenry. I love how it brings out the peach in the lumbar pillow.

Can you believe this is the first time I have ever had white sheeting?! I remember telling my mom when I was little I didn’t love my yellow sheets because they kept me up at night. What a weirdo. These sheets are actually Ivory and I recommend going with Ivory if you are scared of white like me. They are the 400 TC performance sheets from Target so they are wrinkle free and bleach cleanable. They are really thick and almost like a sateen. The only problem is the cat’s fine hair balls up and is more visible, but overall they are lovely!

Here you get to peek at the never before seen side of the bedroom.

The furniture is from my grandparents, making at all the more Graphic meets Granny. There is very little wall space in the bedroom because of the wall of closets and miraculously these fit. It’s a good thing, because I love this furniture and will always have it.

I have to say I’ve never planned out something quite like this for my own space and I think it makes finally seeing the real thing even more exciting. I’m so so happy with how the room turned out, so a big thank you to Relativity Textiles and to my photographer Margaret Rajic, for capturing the space.
